Rancho Bosque Signature Seminars for Spring 2012 Equine Facilitated Learning Programs
Drs. Jane and Allan Hamilton have written and taught extensively about the Neuro-Equine Model© (NEM) and how it explains the deep emotional bond between horse and human. This connection is not simply affection, but is also an interaction between complementary philosophies (prey versus predator) and different parts of the brain: namely, the right and left cerebral hemispheres. The 6 courses described below are the signature Rancho Bosque Programs, unlike equine facilitated programs anywhere else.

The Drs. Hamilton are able to travel world-wide to your location to suit the needs of your program, group or facility.
1. Right Brain versus Left Brain: the Neuro-Equine Model© in Practice:
This two-day program includes a didactic lecture to underscore the science behind the NEM. It also introduces some simple interactive classroom exercises to explore how each of us relies on right or left brain functions.
The program moves to the round pen and the arena for groundwork exercises with horses. Participants receive individual and group demonstrations and coaching, and engage in applications of right versus left brain function in equine-facilitated learning and therapy. Concepts include the ARDP model (Ask, Request, Demand, and Promise), the four cardinal directions and values of the round pen, the power of empathetic learning, the significance of intention, the four C's of leadership (Command, Control, Compassion, and Communication), grooming as mindful ceremony, patient leadership, use of the safe and neutral left shoulder, leading from anywhere, simple measures of self-control, emotion versus intuition in equine-facilitated experiences, the use of chi in connecting and moving horses, facing one's fears, and building confidence.
More than 20 separate concepts and practices will be covered in the clinic. Each individual will be able to incorporate these lessons into equine-facilitated learning and therapy.
Continuing Education credits are available for this course. Accredited by the National Board of Certified Counselors.
Who should attend? Psychologists, Therapists, Counselors, Teachers, Healthcare Providers, Horsemen and Women, Parents, Scientists, etc.

Key Native American concepts covering the balance of spiritual forces in the round pen are introduced. Specific lessons focus on learning the power of chi, the energy of intention, the use of mindful breathing in communicating with horses, the interference of hidden agendas, learning to clear the mind, the Zen practice of turning problems upside down, and eliminating emotional reactivity.
Who should attend? Anyone interested in the potential of spiritual lessons learned in partnership with horses.

3. From Barnyard to Boardroom: Learning the Power of Nonverbal Communication in Negotiations:
Rancho Bosque has worked on several longitudinal studies evaluating the impact of nonverbal communication (NVC) and how horses can help us to understand this power.
This full day program explores NVC within business and corporate settings.
Effective communicators and negotiators learn to use and interpret body language cues. Through specially designed equine facilitated activities, participants explore nonverbal communication. Vital issues that arise during negotiation and other business related processes are explored with the help of horses and professional staff.
Deal-breaking and deal-making "tells" are often vital for successful business negotiations. The course highlights issues in business interactions such as: what to do when the other side threatens to leave the table, give and take in outlining needs, the use of promise and request techniques, yielding to get concessions, and learning how to maintain engagement.
Who should attend? Group leaders, teachers, executives, business owners, employers, managers, teams, work groups, etc.
Time: 9 AM - 5 PM
Dates: please refer to Events Calendar

The Hamilton’s have developed the premiere course using equine facilitated resources for healthcare professionals to enhance communication and improve bedside manner. The program developed at Rancho Bosque has been reproduced at twelve medical schools around the world.
During this full day course, exercises and interaction with horses explore health care related interactions such as: the use of “predictable touch” during the physical examination, body language during elicitation of medical history and review of systems, the power of active listening, approaching fearful procedures, the importance of body language in emergencies (such as “codes” and trauma resuscitations). In addition, the importance of nonverbal communication in building confidence, leadership, and effective interpersonal communication is emphasized.
Who should attend? Physicians, nurses, health care providers, therapists, students, patient families, medical office staff, etc.
